Archer Daniels Midland’s (ADM) business unit ADM Animal Nutrition has opened a new animal nutrition technology centre in Decatur, Illinois, US.

The new technology centre has been developed to meet the requirements of the animal nutrition market.

The new technology centre will focus on the development of ingredient and nutritional solutions

ADM’s new animal nutrition technology centre will work on the development of ingredient and nutritional solutions for pet foods, pet treats and aquaculture feeds.

The new technology centre includes pilot extrusion facility, pet food culinary kitchen, feed evaluation laboratory and enzyme analysis laboratory.

The well-equipped pilot extrusion facility will help run multiple small batches in a single day to evaluate ingredient functionality in extrusion for use in pet foods/treats and aquaculture feeds.

The pet food culinary kitchen helps customers in the product development and product performance evaluations, while feed evaluation laboratory with specialised screening offers in vitro and simulated digestion analyses.

In addition, the centre’s enzyme analysis laboratory will help in the development of novel feed enzymes.

ADM Animal Nutrition North America president Ryan Lane said: “The Animal Nutrition Technology Center was built as a result of ADM’s commitment to research and growth in the animal nutrition space.

“We recognize collaboration is the cornerstone of successful customer relationships and developed the center with this in mind. We’re proud to showcase our expertise and further enhance our capabilities with this facility serving as a global hub for research and development.”

ADM Animal Nutrition offers amino acids, additives, ingredients, tailor-made premix formulations and complete feed for the production animal, aquaculture and companion animal markets.

In November, ADM opened a new animal nutrition facility in Vietnam to meet the requirements of customers for livestock feed in the region.

Situated in Hoa Mac of Ha Nam province, the new livestock feed plant is the company’s fifth dedicated plant for animal nutrition in the country.
