AGXTEND, a business unit of CNH Industrial, has purchased a minority interest in Austrian soil sensing equipment supplier Geoprospectors.

Based in Traiskirchen, Geoprospectors is involved in the supplying of soil sensing equipment for precision agriculture and subsurface engineering.

The company uses different geophysical technologies to generate valuable data regarding soil resources. The data will be used to enhance and processes in real-time.

An average user without specialist knowledge can also easily use the company’s systems to record and automatically analyse data.

Geoprospectors will help AGXTEND to further strengthen its product portfolio and distribution network

The acquisition of a stake in Geoprospectors will help AGXTEND to further strengthen its product portfolio and distribution network through a better presence in soil sensing technology.

Geoprospectors designed its first product range or the use in agriculture and precision farming, with an aim of optimising production means usage such as fuel, fertiliser and seeds by permitting precise depth control of agricultural machinery.

The company also works with research institutions for the development of precise and reliable systems on the market.

Geoprospectors will also help AGXTEND to enhance its synergies, which facilitate the introduction of disruptive new products.

Geoprospectors solutions will allow AGXTEND   to provide a range of geophysical technologies and services for farmers.

The Farm Management Information Systems (FMIS) will help analyse the resulting data and apply it to automate in-field processes in real-time.

Established in 2014, Geoprospectors joined the AGXTEND platform in January this year. It allowed the company to provide its SoilXplorer sensor and the ISOBUS DepthXcontrol kit to the farmers.

CNH Industrial provides a range of products for the capital goods sector. The company has brands such as Case  IH,  New  Holland Agriculture and  Steyr for tractors and agricultural machinery and Case and  New  Holland  Construction for earth moving equipment.

It also has brands such as Iveco for commercial vehicles, Iveco Bus and Heuliez Bus for buses and coaches, Iveco Astra for quarry and construction vehicles, Magirus for firefighting vehicles, Iveco Defence Vehicles for defence and civil protection and  FPT  Industrial for engines and transmissions.

In November, CNH Industrial signed an agreement to acquire the Australian agricultural implement manufacturer K-Line Ag to grow its global agricultural business.
