Through the partnership with Corner Foods, Arcadia plans to introduce its GoodWheat brand of speciality wheat ingredient products

Arcadia Biosciences, a US-based biotech company, has collaborated with Corner Foods, to introduce its GoodWheat portfolio of speciality wheat ingredient products to China and Israel.

GoodWheat from Arcadia is claimed to offer health and nutritional benefits such as high fibre, improved protein quality and reduced allergenic gluten, as consumer preferences align with such benefits.

GoodWheat ingredients are touted to offer health benefits around traditional bakery items, pasta and other wheat-based food products along with alternative starch solutions to the pharmaceutical industry.

Through the partnership with Corner Foods, Arcadia plans to directly introduce its GoodWheat ingredient-based food products to consumers in China, via e-commerce site TMall and cooking and lifestyle network Tastemade China. These digital platforms have a reach of nearly eight million consumers in China per month.

Arcadia Biosciences president and CEO Matthew Plavan said: “This collaboration with Corner Foods has the potential to open key international markets for products made with our GoodWheat ingredients.

“We expect strong demand for healthy, ready-made products such as pastas and speciality baking mixes, and we have allocated significant GoodWheat inventories to support this growth initiative and leverage the international network of Corner Foods.”

Arcadia aims to serve its high-quality wheat products in China

Arcadia quoted research firm Mintel’s recent findings which suggest that post-Covid-19, China’s consumers are seeking a healthier lifestyle and prioritizing healthy snacks.

The US-based biotech company aims to tap the new trend in China and offer its GoodWheat products.

Tastemade China CEO Wayne Chen said: “Tastemade is known for beautiful and engaging food, travel and lifestyle content that lets users explore cuisine from around the world through a mix of original content and user-submitted videos.

“We are excited to partner with Corner Foods to introduce viewers to Arcadia’s impressive portfolio of good-for-you wheat flours, pastas and baking mixes this fall.”

The two companies are also planning to introduce the GoodWheat products into the food retail and foodservice markets in Israel, a country which has been into food tech innovation for a long time.
