Canadian life sciences company Avivagen has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Inphilco, a veterinary company in the Philippines, to act as its new distribution partner for OxC-beta Livestock in the country.

As per the MOU, Inphilco will sell Avivagen’s OxC-beta Livestock non-antibiotic feed additive for swine and poultry to large integrated feed produced as part of its premix offering and also as standalone produce and to commercial farms across the country.

Avivagen stated that the MOU is the step towards a binding agreement between the two companies, which is expected to be signed in the next two months.

Alongside Inphilco, Avivagen is also working to finalise the rights to sell OxC-beta Livestock directly to Universal Robina, another Philippines-based livestock and branded consumer food and beverage producer.

Universal Robina’s Agro-Industrial and Commodity Food Groups (URC AIG) is a leading pork and poultry producer in the Philippines. The company is currently testing OxC-beta Livestock in its integrated-feed to be used in its internal swine production operations.

Avivagen CEO Kym Anthony said: “Avivagen has made exceptional inroads in the Philippines in 2019, and we are very excited to work with INPHILCO to bring OxC-beta Livestock to an even greater proportion of the rapidly growing marketplace in 2020 and beyond.

“INPHILCO’S deep rooted relationships with both large integrated feed producers and commercial farms, along with its well-earned reputation for high quality feed premixes, provides an opportunity for OxC-beta Livestock use for both swine and poultry to grow in the Philippines over the coming years.”

The Canadian company will also work with UNAHCO, an established distribution partner in the country, to include OxC-beta Livestock in locally-produced premixes for both swine and poultry. The company has been a considerable seller of OxC-beta Livestock in the country.

Anthony continued saying: “UNAHCO, INPHILCO and Universal Robina represent three of the most established and important players in the Philippines feed production and sales ecosystem. When signed, these important new agreements with Inphilco and Universal Robina will help OxC-beta Livestock reach an even greater segment of the Philippine feed market.”

OxC-beta Livestock could eliminate the use of antibiotics as growth promoters in livestock feed

According to Avivagen, OxC-beta Livestock has the potential to eliminate the use of antibiotics as growth promoters in livestock feed, an issue which needs an urgent solution and it also represents a multi-hundred million dollar market opportunity worldwide.

The livestock market of Asia-Pacific is expected to accelerate next year and beyond, as new applications of OxC-beta Livestock will be used by a growing number of local partners and as it pursues additional regulatory approvals across new jurisdictions.

Recently, Avivagen secured approvals to sell specific applications of OxC-beta Livestock in Taiwan, Mexico, Malaysia and the US.
