Agricultural machinery provider CLAAS has collaborated with Bayer’s digital farming arm The Climate to expand the use of ClimateFieldView digital farming platform in Europe and other regions.

ClimateFieldView digital farming platform has been designed to help analyse farm’s data in one place and maximise return on every acre.

At present, FieldView is implemented in over 60 million paid acres across North America, South America and Europe. It is expected to achieve more than 90 million paid acres globally this year.

Benefits of ClimateFieldView digital farming platform

The partnership will offer farmers with seamless connectivity and unlimited storage of machine-generated agronomic data directly to their FieldView account.

Under the deal, FieldView customers using CLAAS TELEMATICS can secure cloud-to-cloud access to machine-generated insights to machine-generated insights such as yield reports and maps, average grain moisture and digital record of the field worked in one place.

The combination of machine-generated data from farm equipment and publicly available data such as weather information, as well as predictive models from The Climate will help farmers to put data science to work on the farm.

The Climate CEO and Bayer Crop Science digital farming head: Mike Stern said “Farmers have been collecting data from their farm equipment for decades. The same is true for weather data, soil data, crop performance data, the list goes on and on.

“These data sets become even more valuable to our customers when they can be combined with the advanced AI tools we are developing to help drive profitability and reduce risk on their farms.”

In 2017, both companies announced partnership to connect select CLAAS combines and forage harvesters through the Climate FieldView Drive device.

The latest deal will help expand compatibility to all farmer customers of FieldView and CLAAS TELEMATICS, offering a secure cloud-to-cloud connection without the application of the FieldView Drive.

CLAAS CEO Thomas Böck said: “The CLAAS premium claim is to offer farmers not only high-performance machines but also best-in-class connectivity solutions.”

In October this year, Bayer and Arvinas have concluded the terms of their agreement to launch a targeted protein degradation joint venture (JV), Oerth Bio.
