American AgroTech company Calyx Cultivation has unveiled an artificial intelligence (AI) patented LED grow light technology for indoor farming.

Recently, the company has secured a patent for Genius Grow LED light, which was discovered by James Higgins to minimise food scarcity.

The AI-patented LED grow light will automatically establish optimal environments for healthy crops, helping to eliminate the guesswork on indoor farming.

Calyx’s Genius Grow LED light will help simultaneously control crop cultivation

Calyx’s Genius Grow LED light is said to simultaneously control crop cultivation, in addition to maintaining a high level of nutritional value by mobilising each aspect of the growing cycle.

The AI-patented LED grow light has been designed to self-adjust both the proximity and spectrum of light directed at crops as per the plant species.

The new product is also provided with customised grow light spectra and antifungal capabilities to further improve plant health.

Genius Grow LED light is more suitable for novice, industrial, hobbyist and professional growers to improve indoor farming activities.

Calyx said that it has developed an advanced recipe locally and continues to assemble its products in the US.

The company also claimed that the five acres of crops are generated within its 650ft² research and development facility in Houston of Texas.

In a statement, vertical farming company Zero Point Organics owner James Hinton said: “As a vertical farming company, we are always looking for innovation in our industry to maximize yields.

“Calyx AI patented LED grow lights which auto-adjusts to the crop is pioneering technology for indoor agriculture.”

In December 2019, AeroFarms, a vertical farming company, announced plans to invest $42m for the construction of an indoor vertical farm in the Cane Creek Centre, a joint industrial park for the City of Danville and Pittsylvania County, Virginia.
