Diamond V has expanded Cedar Rapids manufacturing plant (PRNewswire / Cargill, Inc.)

Diamond V, Cargill’s global animal health business, has expanded its production capacity at its Cedar Rapids manufacturing plant in Iowa, US.

The expanded facility will help the company to meet the growing demand from the customers for its natural animal health products.

The company has extended its manufacturing plant to complete all production and packaging of its natural immune support products in one facility.

Cargill’s Diamond V global managing director Mike Goble said: “Diamond V has always been committed to offering products that support healthy animals, more efficient animal production, better pre-harvest food safety, stronger antibiotic stewardship, and improved public health.

“The demand for natural animal health products is growing, and this expansion will allow us to support our customers.”

The expansion was Diamond V’s south plant production facility

With an investment of around $29.1m, the 100,000 ft² of expansion has been carried out at Diamond V’s south plant production facility.

The company will begin production at the Cedar Rapids facility in the next month.

Diamond V will shut down its north plant and shift all 20 employees to the south facility, as a result of the expansion.

In 2018, Cargill acquired Diamond V to expand its growth and better compete in the $20bn global animal feed additives market.

In 2019, Cargill Health Technologies was established to expand its digestive and immune health business for both animal and human application.

Cargill Health Technologies president Chuck Warta said: “Through Cargill Health Technologies, we are pioneering a new path and unlocking the full potential of the bodies we nourish, helping both people and animals live more healthy days.

“When we put the full muscle of Cargill behind it, we believe we can address some of the most pressing global problems in how to feed the world in a safe, responsible and sustainable way.”

In October 2019, Cargill announced that it will invest around $225m to expand its integrated soybean crush and refined oils facility in Sidney, Ohio, US.
