CLAAS has restarted series production of harvesting technology and tractors at its European sites including Harsewinkel in Germany, Le Mans in France and Törökszentmiklós in Hungary.

CLAAS also said that Baler production in Metz, France is also scheduled to resume production a few days later, bringing an intensive preparatory phase to close, which involved analysis of health protection and taking necessary preventive measures.

During the planning phase, the purchasing departments had contacted all required national and international suppliers to make sure that the supply of raw materials reaches the facilities for the smooth relaunch of production. Warehouse stocks were also increased on short notice.

CLAAS CEO Thomas Böck said: “In this time, our thoughts are mainly with those staff members and countries that were, and still are, particularly affected by the pandemic. We are therefore delighted to send out a ray of hope by relaunching series production at our four major production sites.”

With the continued spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and with ever greater restrictions along the supply chain, an interruption to production at the four sites had occurred for several weeks in mid-March. Despite this, the company claims that the delivery of machines has already been built continued.

Production in Chandigarh has stopped due to the lockdown situation in India

Though CLAAS also stated that its production facility in Gaomi, China has largely resumed and has been normal for a few weeks now, its sites in Omaha in the US, Krasnodar in Russia along with its German facilities including Paderborn, Dissen and Bad Saulgau have only been affected by the pandemic temporarily or in some cases, not at all. But, the situation of its Indian facility in Chandigarh is different, as the lockdown situation, had led to a standstill of production.

A few days ago, CLAAS announced that production at its Bad Saulgau has been continuing as per plan, despite an initial two-week shutdown of series production in Harsewinkel due to production stoppages at suppliers.

At Bad Saulgau facility, the German company produces mower units, tedders, swathers as well as loader wagons and forage transport wagons. Additionally, it also manufactures front attachments plus the intake and chopper units for the JAGUAR range.
