CLAAS UK has introduced new models of TORION including 639 and 535 compact wheel loaders in the UK, following the success of medium and large frame versions.

The new compact wheel loaders come with articulated steering and a low overall height of less than 2.5m. It is claimed to be ideal for use on livestock and dairy farms or smaller re-handling facilities.

The new TORION 639 and 535 are powered by Yanmar 3.3 litre diesel engine

The TORION 639 and 535 are powered by Yanmar 3.3 litre, 4-cylinder engines with power outputs of 68hp and 63hp, respectively. The engines are claimed to be Stage 3B compliant and use a combination of Diesel Oxidation Catalytic convertor (DOC) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), without the need for Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR).

Drive is through a 20kph hydrostatic transmission with two-speed ranges of 0-6kph and 0-20kph, which can be selected at the flick of a switch.

The articulated joint uses a double-acting steering ram and the articulation angle is 10° and the steering angle is 40°. It claims to result in a tight inner turning circle of 2.5m on standard tyres.

TORION 535 has a Full Turn Tipping Load (FTTL) of 3,450kg at maximum articulation. It reaches to a maximum of 3,850kg for the TORION 639.

Similar to several other wheel loaders, the two machines are also fitted with Zettlemeyer Wide (TPZ Wide) headstock.

As with other models in the TORION range, the bottom has Z kinematics, which offers true parallel lift when used with buckets or pallet forks and a high tear-out force.

CLAAS also claims that the hydraulic system on TORION 639/535 has a maximum capacity of 77 litres/minute and 70 litres/minute respectively, with an operating pressure of 230 bar for both machines. It ensures faster response for quick and accurate loading.

The cab has full-height front windscreen, offering better visibility over the front wheels and attachments fitted to the tapered bottom. A rounded rear window provides rearward visibility as well.

The steering column is also claimed to be infinitely adjustable for ease of operation and access, from where all the main controls can be easily accessible and are colour-coded on the operator’s right-hand side, along with the joystick.
