CNH Industrial has signed an agreement to acquire AgDNA, a provider of farm management information systems (FMIS), for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition of AgDNA will benefit CNH International’s customers through single-point data integration, mapping and analytical tools.

Coupled with CNH Industrial’s agricultural brands’ fleet management telematics, the combined solution can support farmers and agribusinesses in consolidating a wide range of agronomic data streams.

The data stream arise from a range of inputs such as machine, agronomic and third party data, including prices and weather information, into a single platform, to facilitate expedited decision making.

The deal is also in line with CNH Industrial’s approach to data control and farmers will continue to control all the data used by the system along with the ability to use several in-house and third-party applications that suit their farming operations.

Furthermore, the deal is expected to complement CNH Industrial’s existing range of precision farming software solutions partnerships.

CNH Industrial CEO Hubertus Mühlhäuser said: “CNH Industrial is committed to further digitalizing modern agriculture, with the clear ambition to develop a comprehensive suite of digital and connectivity services to help our customers run their farming operations seamlessly and productively.

“The acquisition of AgDNA, is further evidence of our continuing investment in digital farming.”

AgDNA’s FMIS could be available in North America in the fourth quarter of this year

AgDNA’s FMIS is expected to be commercialised from the last quarter of this year across North America, through the Case H and New Holland Agriculture dealer networks.

It will enhance the agronomic feature-set capabilities of Case IH AFS Connect and New Holland MyPLM Connect and is claimed to be another step in bringing the brands’ dealer networks closer to their customers in enhancing the overall farming productivity through decision-making efficiencies.

As per CNH Industrial, the deal is part of its long-term roadmap to enhance and extend its precision farming and is in line with its commitment to provide increasing digitalisation and servitisation in agriculture to add value for both customers and shareholders.
