DTN, a provider of insights, analysis and decision-support solutions, has purchased the agriculture and weather analytics segment from Iteris for an undisclosed sum.

DTN has acquired Iteris’ ClearAg, an advanced and open digital farming platform for crop analytics.

The acquisition of ClearAg will allow DTN to provide new value-driven solutions to producers and agribusinesses

The acquisition of ClearAg will allow DTN to advance its expertise in agriculture and offer new value-driven solutions to producers and agribusinesses across the world.

DTN CEO Steve Matthesen said: “ClearAg is a global leader, offering best-in-class solutions for customers throughout the agriculture supply chain. We will leverage their predictive agronomic insights to further drive value with our agribusiness and individual producer customers.”

ClearAg will provide agribusinesses and producers with real-time, hyperlocal weather information and their land surface models to make predictive agronomic solutions.

The platform will help address complex challenges by streamlining field trial processes, optimising in-filed activities and the value of digital farming applications. It supports field and crop management decisions and risk assessments.

DTN is also planning to leverage its own weather station network beside ClearAg’s predictive agronomic solutions to offer precise independent insights in agriculture.

Iteris president and CEO Joe Bergera said: “When we combine our transportation expertise with the meteorological expertise at DTN, we will be able to deliver differentiated solutions that will drive value to our customers around the world.”

In March, CONSUS, a research partnership between University College Dublin (UCD) and Origin Enterprises, selected Iteris ClearAg environmental intelligence to integrate with its crop modelling platform.
