Digital agriculture solutions provider Farmers Edge has entered into an exclusive and three-year partnership with crop protection company Nufarm Brasil to digitise around three million acres of farmland in Brazil by 2023.

The collaboration allows both firms to leverage their strengths to offer enhanced crop protection and the modern tools for growers to make better-informed agronomic decisions to increase profitability.

Brazil, the fourth largest food producer in the world, produces crops such as soybean, corn, sugarcane, and cotton.

Farmers Edge’s advanced digital infrastructure will help collect data from any type of environment in the farm through wireless mesh or cellular networks.

Nufarm Brasil LATAM marketing director Celso Macedo said: “By joining forces with Farmers Edge, Nufarm can efficiently and sustainably provide superior services and establish a seamless connection with growers so we can strategically match each farm’s unique needs with the right solutions.”

The collaboration will enable Nufarm representatives to advance their business model and services

The partnership will also facilitate Nufarm representatives to advance their business model and services, helping to shift from selling products to selling outcomes.

Growers will have the flexibility to share their data with their representative via FarmCommand platform to better understand the conditions across the farm.

FarmCommand is an advanced digital platform that helps growers to make more informed farm management decisions.

The platform includes a suite of tools, comprising a unique set of imagery-derived maps, highly-precise predictive crop models, and automatic crop health change detection.

Farmers Edge CEO and co-founder Wade Barnes said: “Brazil is an agricultural powerhouse with a unique position as a top global producer that is also data-sparse compared to other areas of the world.

“By developing new, integrated solutions with Nufarm, we equip growers with tools to make agronomically sound crop protection decisions, monitor crops remotely, and proactively manage risks; together, we are putting Brazil growers in the driver’s seat for the next decade.”

In February, crop and farm insurance solutions provider Producers Edge selected Farmers Edge’s fully integrated digital platform to deliver enhanced insurance services.
