American agricultural and forestry machinery-maker John Deere has announced the latest G-Series forestry swing machines.

The latest offering from John Deere comes with increased options and is expected to help lower daily operating costs, boost productivity and increase uptime.

The forestry swing machine features new updates, which include improvements to the machine design and more standard features that offer loggers a streamlined, reliable machine, the company said.

Improved machine design includes changes to the boom and arm cylinder guards, hood and underdecking. Furthermore, a larger undercarriage, which was previously offered on the 3754G and 3756G swing machines, is now being offered on the 3145G and 3156G models to increase productivity.

A front sunshade has been added, increasing operator comfort and visibility in sunny conditions. A deck handrail has been included to increase the safety of the operator while traversing the upper deck, and the redesigned 7-inch tool tray offers improved access and security.

John Deere Construction & Forestry product marketing manager Jarvis De Groot said: “To take a good machine and make it better, we knew we needed to go to our customers. Their input has helped us engineer the best equipped swing machines to handle the daily demands loggers face.

“The new forestry swing machines were designed to increase uptime and reliability, even when navigating harsh and challenging terrain.”

John Deere made features standard, which were previously offered as options

In addition, the company has added previously optional features as standard offerings for the new forestry swing machine.

A standard pre-cleaner for engine air intake to extend filter life and minimise service frequency is now available on all final Tier 4 engine models.

The auto-reversing fan is now standard on all the machines and can be controlled using a dash-mounted button that reverses airflow to eject debris from the cooler cores, reducing the frequency of cooler maintenance.

A durable LED light package, offering access and service compartment lighting, has now been made a standard.
