German agricultural machinery firm Maschinenfabrik Bernard Krone is set to use software solutions from Siemens, as part of its digitalisation strategy.

The company has selected Siemens Digital Innovation Platform, including Teamcenter portfolio and NX software, to design a new digitalisation programme for the processing of entire product lifecycle.

The programme will also help establish collaborative work between departments by leveraging the integrated solutions, which are part of the Siemens Digital Innovation Platform.

Krone CIO Dr Goy-Hinrich Korn said: “Establishing a PDM / PLM solution at Krone creates an important backbone for our overall digitalization strategy.

“We have a vision and plan to enable the digitalization of our company but without a solid base, these would not be sufficiently supported. We are confident that working with Siemens’ software will help solve both our existing issues as well as meet our new requirements.”

Krone aims to develop software tools to address multiple industry challenges

Krone is focusing on the development of integrated set of design, simulation and manufacturing software tools to address multiple industry challenges, including global competition, a multi-site manufacturing, compressed development cycles, total cost-of-ownership reductions, fuel economy, and regulatory emissions standards.

The company has a multi-phase roll-out planned to deploy the software, with an initial focus on CAD data migration including 150 seats of NX.

The focus will be on the product lifecycle management (PLM) software, including 400 seats of Teamcentre, in the later phases of the implementation.

Krone’s initial install base will serve as the foundation for the strategy and allow expanding into various areas of interest such as quality management systems (QMS), IoT, simulation and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) solutions.

Krone product portfolio is comprised of simple agricultural machines such as small mowers, as well as complex field choppers for interplant use.

Siemens PLM Software managing director and senior vice president Urban August said: “A single-source data management system is an essential tool for heavy equipment manufacturers such as Krone, who need to manage the different forms and data created, while keeping focus on engineering, manufacturing and product lifecycle.”
