Procurant, a fresh food supply chain platform developer, has introduced ProcurantConnect, a new cloud-based service that bridges growers and shippers of perishable goods

ProcurantConnect enables growers and shippers to easily connect and collaborate with trading partners. The solution also supports IBM Food Trust for transmitting product traceability data.

Claimed to be a first-of-its-kind solution, ProcurantConnect is a single connection point for sending and receiving a variety of files. Companies can simply pick a channel and select the information that they want to exchange via a set of pre-built connection channels, data formats and monitoring and notification capabilities.

It supports a single interaction point for data transfer. The file formatting options offered by ProcurantConnect include text, CSV, XML, JSON, etc. Connection options offered include EDI, SFTP, direct folder access, etc. Furthermore, ProcurantConnect also offers status monitoring, alerting and reporting.

Procurant supplier strategy vice president Ray Connelly said: “Trading partners in the food supply chain share a lot of information with each other, but variations in the way each company handles data leads to custom integration projects that can be expensive and time-consuming to set up and maintain.

“We now have a simple and cost-effective solution for food suppliers that are being asked to share new kinds of data in new formats with multiple trading partners.”

ProcurantConnect, as per Procurant is part of its continued solutions that leverage, a single, global platform designed for the unique needs of the food industry.

All of Procurant solutions are claimed to benefit from the strengths of a shared infrastructure offering scalability at consumer performance levels on all layers, including user interface to business logic to storage.

The new solution is blockchain optimised

The solution offers mobile functionality as an integral part, focusing on managing by exception. It is also claimed to be blockchain optimised with a hybrid approach to flexibly interact with multiple blockchain platforms.

As a result, the platform can help farmers, producers, shippers, distributors and retailers in their strategic planning along with their day-to-day supply chain processes.

Last month, Procurant was selected by Tanimura & Antle, a grower, shipper and marketer of branded produce, to use its platform to share data with trading partners and industry data repositories including the IBM Food Trust.

Procurant’s platform is a cloud-based perishable food order management system that enables trading partners collaboration, IoT and sensor data collection, mobile messaging and alerts, secure storage of critical documentation and the sharing of food safety data in public or private blockchains.
