Raven Industries has agreed to purchase the remaining stake in DOT Technology, a provider of autonomous agriculture solutions.

The deal, which is part of Raven’s ongoing commitment to autonomous agriculture solutions, will help the company to increase its market share in precision ag technology.

In November 2019, Raven completed the acquisition of a majority stake in DOT, which is involved in the designing and manufacturing of advanced U-shaped diesel-powered platform to autonomously deal with a range of agriculture implements.

Dot Power Platform can be integrated with a range of implements used in agricultural production

DOT has developed a Dot Power Platform, an autonomous power unit that can be integrated with a range of implements used in agricultural production.

The platform also provides a range of labour-saving solutions to farmers and Ag retailers.

Raven said that the combination of DOT and recently acquired Smart Ag autonomous perception and path planning technology with the firm’s core technology platforms in guidance, steering, and machine control allows to provide advanced autonomous solutions and improve long-term growth in applied technology.

At present, the company is focused on the commercialisation of Raven Autonomy and expand its portfolio with new offerings to enhance the value of autonomy to end-users.

Raven Autonomy executive director Wade Robey said: “We see tremendous synergies between our current business and in the investments, we have made in DOT and Smart Ag, an Iowa-based autonomy company which we acquired last November.

“We are very excited to be a leader in ag autonomy, and we are committed to working with our customers and partners to help bring these exciting new technologies to ag markets around the globe.”

In November 2019, Raven also acquired Smart Ag, a technology company developing autonomous farming solutions for agriculture, for an undisclosed amount.

Raven offers precision agriculture, high-performance speciality films, and lighter-than-air technologies to its customers.
