Summit Agro USA, a pesticide manufacturer, has launched REGEV, the first hybrid fungicide for growers in the US.

Claimed to be the next generation disease control product, REGEV combines the advantages of a botanical product and a conventional fungicide.

The hybrid nature of REGEV can reduce the chemical load in crops, differentiating from conventional fungicides. Additionally, the multiple modes of action with REGEV lower the probability of developing resistance or cross-resistance in plant pathogens, Summit Agro said.

Summit Agro botanical products marketing manager Fred Yates said: “REGEV brings together Tea Tree Oil and difenoconazole giving growers across a variety of crops a very effective disease control product while reducing chemical usage and providing effective resistance management control.

“The preventative and curative activity of REGEV with a broad crop and disease control label, plus its ability to enhance plant growth and yield all provide significant value to growers.”

Initially, REGEV will be launched for soybeans, rice and potatoes

REGEV will be launched across major crops such as soybeans, rice and potatoes along with speciality crops including cucurbits, fruiting vegetables, bulb vegetables, brassica leafy vegetables, legume vegetables, grapes, tree nuts and citrus.

Yates continued saying: “studies have shown that the addition of Tree Tea Oil to difenoconazole improved the efficacy of difenoconazole and its sensitivity against fungal isolates.”

With REGEV, growers can now have access to better disease control from two modes of action, yet with only one residue, the company stated.

In May 2019, Summit Agro USA signed an agreement to distribute Seican botanical-based biopesticides of Seipasa, a Spanish pesticides company, across the US.

Formulated and developed by Seipasa, Seican is also registered by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is OMRI certified.

The product offers dual-mode action, both as an insecticide and acaricide. It was developed from a formulation based on biological substances and is claimed to have high efficacy at low doses in organic farming and sustainable programmes.
