German pharmaceutical and life sciences company Bayer has collaborated with artificial intelligence (AI) data analytics company Prospera Technologies to develop integrated digital solutions for vegetable greenhouse growers.

Prospera offers an efficient digital farming system to vegetable greenhouse growers to generate insights and enhance the growing process.

The deal will allow to combine the strengths of Prospera’s data and AI capabilities with Bayer’s expertise in vegetable production, crop protection, and digital transformation to deliver all-in-one cloud-based service, which will help revolutionise grower operations and facilitate improved access to quality fruits and vegetables.

Bayer vegetable seeds business digital transformation head Chris Moore said: “Our partnership with Prospera is our first step into solutions beyond the seed for the vegetable greenhouse market. We look forward to innovating with customers to find new ways of solving the problems that growers face every day.”

The combined solution will facilitate vegetable greenhouse growers to make timely and insightful decisions

The combined solution will allow vegetable greenhouse growers to make timely and insightful decisions, helping to improve the profitability and sustainability of their crops and operations.

Prospera’s data visualisation and analysis platform will help pepper growers to apply precise quantities of water to specific locations in the greenhouse, allowing to efficiently use natural resources and yield more grown produce.

Initially, the rollout and in-field exploration of the offering will commence in Mexico this month, a crucial market for global vegetable production.

Both firms will work with various crucial customers in the region to continuously adjust and optimise the digitised farming system.

Prospera Technologies CEO and co-founder Daniel Koppel said: “We are very excited to partner with Bayer, the world leading provider of vegetable seeds and crop protection solutions. We believe this collaboration can unleash tremendous value for vegetable greenhouse growers.”

In February this year, French biotech company Meiogenix collaborated with Bayer to boost the development of advanced plant breeding and genome editing technologies.
