Agriculture technology company Deveron UAS has collaborated with AgTech company Terramera on a turnkey data programme.

Both firms have joined forces to use drones and data across multiple sites throughout North America for the 2020 growing season.

Deveron president and CEO David MacMillan said: “Our vision continues to remain focused on expanding a North American network of agriculture data technicians so global leaders like Terramera have a reliable and low-cost network to help validate the incredible products they are creating.”

The deal allows Terramera to access Deveron’s turnkey drone data network

The project will allow Terramera to access Deveron’s turnkey drone data network, which comprises scalable data collection services across multiple sites in Canada and the US.

The 2020 project is said to bring multiple solutions to the complexity of agricultural field biology research, which covers a range of geographies where it is difficult to standardise data collection protocols and deploy similar hardware and sensors.

Deveron’s drone data network will help clients to replicate data collection protocol across multiple locations, as well as protect standardised and comparable data sets without any capital investment.

Terramera founder and CEO Karn Manhas said: “Terramera is committed to reducing the global synthetic pesticide load 80% by 2030 through Actigate, our foundational chemistry platform.

“Deveron’s ability to scale and replicate our high standards of data acquisition made them a great choice to collaborate on our trials.”

In September 2019, Terramera raised $45m (£36m) in Series B funding round led by new investor Ospraie Ag Science and previous investor Seed2Growth (S2G) Ventures.

Established in 2010, Terramera has integrated operations in Canada, the US and India. The company has a greenhouse and farm, as well as over 240 patents in its global IP portfolio.

Deveron offers data acquisition services and data insights in North America. It provides scalable data acquisition solutions in the imagery and soil space.

The company, via its wholly-owned subsidiary Veritas Farm Management, offers growers in North America with independent data analytics and insights on data being generated on farms.
